Muskies Preview Wake Forest
On Saturday night at 5:00, the Musketeers will host the 10-2 Wake Forest Demon Deacons as head coach Chris Mack looks for his 100th win as Xavier head coach.
Saturday's game will honor Skip Prosser who served as the head coach at both Xavier (1994-01) and Wake Forest (2001-07).
Xavier is coming off a 77-74 road win over Alabama, while Wake Forest comes in off a 59-51 win over UNC-Greensboro.
In that game, the Deacons got a double-double from Devin Thomas and held off a late Spartan rally to finish off a perfect home non-conference slate.
Thomas scored 12 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Demon Deacons, notching his fourth double-double of the season. Thomas is the ACC's leading rebounder at 9.8 boards per game. Keeping him off the boards will be key for the front court duo off Matt Stainbrook and Isaiah Philmore.
Tyler Cavanaugh also scored 12 points, six of them coming on back-to-back 3-pointers, in addition to pulling down four rebounds.
Codi Miller-McIntyre joined them in double figures, tallying 11 points, including nine in the final 5:20 of the game.
Codi Miller-McIntyre is one of three players to rank in the top 10 in the ACC in both scoring and assists. Miller-McIntyre is 10th in both scoring (17.5) and assists (4.0). He will be priority #1 for Muskies defensively.
Wake Forest leads the ACC and ranks eighth nationally in rebounding with 43.6 rebounds per game.
