Thursday afternoon, the latest twist was one that Chris Mack and his staff at Xavier are excited about.
A five-star shooting guard who hails from Denver, Thomas committed to Xavier as a member of the junior college class of 2013 according to sources close to the situation.
Of course, the path that led Thomas to Marianna (Fla.) Chipola is a bit of an interesting one.
A prodigious scoring talent in his hometown of Denver, Thomas had attended schools in Washington D.C., Arizona and Connecticut as a member of the high school class of 2013 -- 2013 would have been his prep year.
However, academics suggested that junior college would be Thomas' ultimate destination and only chance at qualifying for a Division One program so he went ahead and enrolled at Chipola during the winter.
Formerly ranked #5 in the class of 2013, Thomas has all of the tools to be an immediate impact and big time scorer on the college level.
Sources indicated that the comfort level Thomas was able to establish with Mack and assistant Rasheen Davis were instrumental in locking up the commitment.
